Ugh. Rent grandmother's house at GREAT price, or stay in apt >>

Not as dumb as it sounds...

my grandmother is moving out of state. Her house is fairly big (3 bedroom, 2 bath, then another HUGE bedroom on the top floor, full basement (unfinished))
BUT. It's from like the early 80's. She'll rent it to my friend and I for $800 a month... It's in good condition, it's just old.. (wood panel in living room, there's a formal dining room and formal living room along with regulars..)

If I can get 3 people then that drops my rent to $200...

So,
Stay in BRAND NEW apt with ALL new appliances, or stay in old house, but big house far from neighbors w/ garage..

House, duh. Lots of space, fantastic price, and your grandmother won't even be living there. Seriously, how hard is it?

The house! Does it have a garage for your "new" used bike?😀

lol, yeah..

the basement is unfinished.. could fit 4 cars easily, 5 pushing it... only two garage doors though, heh

I dunno.. I'm trying to get another roommate, for a total of 3, but the guy is like "it's not brand new, it's old, just the fact that it was built 20 years ago, etc. etc. etc."

Get the house.

Have the carpets cleaned and repain the walls if needed. As for the issue regarding appliances, buy them if you have to. With the money you save in rent, you can afford to do that after a few months.

My Parents house is 40 years old.. so?

Take the house and save up some money to remodel it a bit. It 's a no brainer if you ask me!

dude... you have two dance floors, at least one of the the neighbors will never hear no matter how loud you turn it up (basement and garage)

A house built in the 80's is considered old?

I know, WTF is se7enty7 & friends thinking?

I dunno.. compare to an apt complex that was built 12 months ago... it's old..

It sounds stupid. I am stupid.. we're renting the house..

Solution: Take the house. Dont live with a roommate dumb enough to think a 20 year old house is old. Hell, most people dont have their houses fully paid off 20 years after "buying" them.
