Ugh, playing Hl2 over again, and while it is very pretty at 1024/4xAA/8xAF on my 6600GT (600/1150)...

i can post a few screenies if you want, vertical objects like the shiny poles in the train, and vegitation are the worst...

i'd love to, but prices here put that out of my reach. Hopefully a 7600GT in the very near future for me tho...

The LOD bias clamp helps more than HQ. You want to have both on.

can i do that without nhancer?

You're not very familiar with the Nvidia drivers, are you ;)

i just use what i can see ;)

I ASSUME that HQ would give me the best visual quality :p

Unfortunately that does not solve the problem. The X1900 shimmers also, although in a different way / textures.

I say that based on my own experience. I tried both. I picked the Nvidia for a quieter solution.

I think you know the answers and how to fix it. It requires 3 clicks, no rocket science. This is an old topic and you have participated also. I think you are just teasing people.

BTW, Rollo is not around anymore - few people will bother to defend Nvidia.

I agree that Nvidia should do that as standard on the driver. I hate the shimmering also.

Hm, I've never seen any shimmering with my 6600gt. Or maybe i've never noticed it and could care less. (But I guess it's very obvious, so I probably don't get it)

So for buying Nvidia, I get great IQ!

The 6 series cards are actually pretty decent with the shimmering. It's mainly the 7 series cards where it sticks out really badly.

Give me a few mins & i'll upload a pic, it makes it better but it doesn't solve it by any stretch of the imagination...

What lines?

Are you talking about the transparent metal "railing" texture on top of the metal supports?

The trees, the fence mesh, and the lines atop those big girders all shimmer like crazy when you move, hence their 'patchy' look in the screenshot...

Funny!

I've seen dug and quite a few others posting about shimmering in games with NV cards here and on other forums. The 6600GT on my desktop has been there for 1.5 yrs and I also run 6800 Go Ultra on my lappy. Games I play are Quake 4, Doom 3, Riddeck, HL2, Far Cry, etc, etc. I've yet to see ANY kind of shimmering on either card! Have upgraded Forceware several times (now on the 82s & 84s) and there have been no graphical anomalies.

Just luck I guess, unless there are specific problems with specific hardware!
