I'm loving PGR3. Yes, it's new to me since the 360 is new to me.
So I tried a couple of online races, and it's friggin keystone cops on class A vehicles. I start out mid-last of the pack. I get pass a few cleanly on the first turns. Then...the PIT maneuverer. 3 times in a row.
Next race...the top 3 outpace the rest. The stragglers are way behind me by the 2nd lap. I'm in the middle, (5th place), and gaining ground fast. Then I see the gray dot of the 4th place guy go backwards on the track (or stop), can't tell which. I pass him, and he pins me into a wall, and takes off NFS Most Wanted style. By the time I straighten up, there is no point trying catch up.
I didn't want to finish the race at that point, I muted the mic so they couldn't here me go off on them.
I ended up coasting to the finish line and signed out.

So one question, do Forza players play nicer? I'm not going to race online if everyone thinks they are Jason Bourne in a Moscow tunnel. I don't mind 'racing incidents', but for F's sake I'm mad.
I heard Forza is all about the online exp. Please convince me so.

I say report them via feedback and just go on. I haven't played PGR3 online in a long while, but I can't imagine it's evolved into something like that online with every race.

It'll happen in any game on any system. There are idiots out there that get their jollies by ruining everyone else's game. Best thing to do is give them negative feedback as that will help make sure you don't play with the idiots you encounter again.

I don't know brudda. When I played Test Drive Unlimited (first game I got with my 360 last year) the races were all dog eat dog. If you didn't drive stick, have the right car, know which gear to start in, and have the ability to counter attempts to run you off the road/wipe you out/ into a tree or poll, you were toast.

I haven't played any other racing game on XBL, but sounds like PGR3 is more of the same from the OP.

EDIT:

That's what I surmised

It is the biggest downside to online play of any kind, people let their alter-egos out to play, and it is usually Mr Hyde.

I played Catan the other day (4 player game) and someone was using two profiles. It was obvious because the two profiles traded anything and everything to benefit one of the profiles. Of course the guy won. It's not that he won that pissed me off, that he had to go the route of using two profiles to do it. I left negative feedback and went on my way.

May have had a friend helping him. I just have a hard time believing someone would be such a loser as to buy two 360s, two TVs, two Live accounts etc just to cheat at an XBLA game.

so far my forza experience online has been pretty good. Generally you get in a room and they will say what they are doing, or you ask. Some guys are into making goof off races, like all PT cruisers and collisions on, etc. Other rooms will be all legit racers, and generally I find that is the case. You have a community of mostly enthusiasts, so the epxerience is, wow, i want to play a simulation not "lets find all the exploits by spending 24 hours a day messing around"
I say, if you are even considering forza 2 to get it. You will not be dissapointed. I am now on the fence of getting that damn wheel! it looks like a great accessory and I see people are racing better with it!
The sound/graphics are excellent as well!

I've never played with Forza 2 online, but if simulation damage is on - Players will be careful as a good crash can severely cripple the car.

Depends what mode you're playing in. Are you doing a regular street race, or Cat & Mouse race? I've seen a few street race players dirty but what you described is more symbolic of a Cat & Mouse race - where one team tries to prevent the mouse from the other team from winning the race.

I played my first PGR3 race online last night. As the race was starting I realized that the volume on my TV was really loud, so I tried to turn it down. Hit the channel button instead. Whoops. As I fumbled around with the controller trying to switch it back to the right input I heard "who's hitting the brakes?" over my headset. I didn't hit the brakes, but I did take my finger off the gas. They blamed someone else... maybe someone else really did hit the brakes? I don't even remember if anyone started behind me.

Whoops.

lol. That is something I did the other night with the Forza demo (single player of course). My date called, meant to push pause, and fumbled the remote and dropped it, and it unpaused, and the controller bounced underneath my couch.
She asked if I was driving somewhere. I also didn't want the impression I was trying to play video games while talking to her, so I had to kill the sound.

--edit--we should get a ATOT only race going one of these nights.

I guess you missed that story about a guy and his girlfriend having 46 WoW accounts.

I've read they level up the characters and sell them, no market for that on the 360 I'm aware of?
