Ugh! Outlook Express Difficulties - Trying to Export Messages

Alrite,

I'm going to be reformating in the next couple days I'm going to switch over to using Outlook, rather than Outlook Express. So I'm trying to Export all my messages from Outlook Express, however, every time I try to do so, I get the following error:

The export could not be performed:

An Error Occured while initializing MAPI.

I searched the MS Knowledge Base and it said to uncheck a setting in the Tools>Options>General Tab, but I don't see to have that option they speak of.

Outlook was never installed on my PC before, only OE.

I'm running Windows XP with Outlook Express 6.0

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

you can drag OE messages out of OE, you might be able to drag them into Outlook?

I think all you have to do is change Outlook Express so it's not the default Simple MAPI client, then reboot and export. Here's directions on how to do it.

try installing outlook 2k, open outlook 2k and import messages from OE. then export from outlook 2k. worth a shot.

thanks, that's what I had to do. I was getting "default mapi store could not be opened".
