Ugh - Office building A/C is out...

6:30am... I walked into a nasty sauna... It's warmer inside the building than it is outside. This is going to be a wonderful day!

Why don't you guys opens some doors and windows?

The A/C has gone out in the office building I work in as well... and there are no windows that can be opened to the outside (which is common).

lol, wtf kind of qquestion is that? of course they can - and DO!
I dunno - seems like there would be some kind of OSHA rule concerning working conditions.

It's barely 60 outside here and we have the AC on at work because it's 80 inside.

If the temperature is 95 outside, can you claim dangerous working condition when you have to walk from the parking lot to the office? 😉

If you've got a really good lawyer you probably can. 😛

This happend last summer to me...the building was in the low 80's. The Data Center was a brisk 55 with its diesel generators running.

Sucks!

I remember working in a small hotel/restaurant doing admin work (in the basement of all places). The boiler room was also in the basement, just a door separated it from where I worked... but that door didn't stop the oppressive heat/steam that dam room generated.... I hated working there!

Do you know what's generating heat?? Lot's of computers?? If heated air is coming out of the ceiling registers, your thermostat might still work (try lowering the temp or turning off the thermostat). Most building heat is done via individual heating coils and straight air. The coils are generally located in places to feed specific areas or rooms.

Also, if the problem isn't fixed and the hvac people just restart your ac units, the ac is going to have to work a lot harder to cool the temperature when competing with whatever the source of heat is. They will probably break down again soon.

Sorry man.

It's in the high 60s - low 70s outside. Without AC, the temperature indoors is 80+. Not good for me, not good for the equipment I manage. Lack of AC sucks.

I get to sit next to a little phone/4 server room. It's hot over here. I have a personal fan to keep me cool.

The building where my office was located did not have heat or air for 3 years, the guy who owns it would not pay to get it fixed. He kicked us and everyone else out with a one month notice. Now the building is empty and will stay that way.
