I have
- Cleared CMOS
- Tried 3 sticks of RAM individually, one known working, two new
- Changing any jumper settings
- There is no error beeps
- There is no sound voice messages

What do I think? I think I put on my HSF backwards. I have no idea though, as it is completely symmetrical and I have no idea how I'm supposed to know either way.

I have no other ideas. I'm really depressed I can tell you that.

Asus A7N8X DX
Barton 2500+
ATi Radeon 9500 Pro

Oh, and I would of tried switching the HSF around but that involves taking the whole damned mobo out again so I'd really like to reserve as a last resort.

Did it work before or is it a new setup? Why would you have to take out the MB to take off the heatsink? Do you have a differant power supply that you can test on it?

Its everything existing but replacing the mobo, CPU, and video card.

Just swapped out with the old stuff. The PSU is confirmed fine, unless it died in the last couple hours...

It just boots up, fans spin, hard drives spin...then nothing further...

The HSF has one of those god damn clips that you need to use a screwdriver with. On the top side, the PSU prevents me from accessing the hole, and on the bottom giant capicators prevent me.

I would take out the heatsink (even though it's a pain) and make sure it's on right. Did you use thermal grease or the pad? Did you remember to take the plastic of the pad?

There was no plastic on the pad. It was just goo like Arctic Silver. I'd assume thats the pad.

What heatsink is it? If it was me, I would take it out, clean it with goo-off, then with alcohal, put arctic silver on, and try again.

Its some brandless retail HSF. I have taken it off now and there is no signs of anything burnt. The core made a relatively flat indentation on it so it looks like I had the HSF on right. Now I have no idea.

All I have is 70% Rubbing Alcohol. Will that work for getting rid of the thermal pad?

Just try cleaning it and replacing it, are you sure the fan was spinning?

100% sure. I was watching it like a hawk because I've heard too many stories of flaming Athlons.

You might have to use a razar blade or something to peal it off first. Don't scratch it though. If you do youl have to sand it, needs to be smooth.

Did you double check all of your cables? Master hard drive pluged into the blue port? Try with just video, one hard drive, and one stick of ram.

Yes. Same thing.

The only other idea I have now is my hard drive is still on an ATA 66 cable. But its reverse compatible so...

Will try again, snidy1.
