Actually, she uses the right amount but for some reason the smell SO STRONG after the cloths are washed and dried. I swear it almost makes me nauseous just sitting here at work smelling the stuff. *sigh*

WOW. You sound really whiney. How about, oh I dunno, asking her to try a different brand?

Actually more aggrivated because it does the same thing to me...

most brands are touting long lasting smelling nice in the clothes.
I use Downey that smells fragrent but never so strong it makes me sick. try dilluting it first perhaps.
or as others have said, get the Free and Clear kind.
It could also be the Fabric Softener (liquid or sheets) she is using and not the detergent.

Buy SCENTFREE detergent, or double rinse your laundry. I can't stand perfumes and stuff in my laundry. either way, LolaWiz gave you more answers...lol

Well I get sick from smelling something over and over, it gives me headaches. Its a reason I can't wear cologne I get sick from smelling it all day. I usualy try dilluting it by using half the amount needed. I guess we should probably switch to free and clear.

My wife has a bad habit of using WAY too much chlorine bleach on whites. The smell actually gags and chokes me!
I have learned not to wear white shirts nor underpants so I don't have to smell it, but I keep my white socks! (All that chlorine seems to help eliminate foot odor!)

At least your wife washes your clothes. I can barely get my wife to wash HER clothes.

Was it because you complained about how much detergent she used? 😀

Heh

No, when my wife does something useful around the house, I throw parties and order trophies. The last thing I'm going to do is complain.

Same here, i can't even use after shave. any colognes or perfumes give me headaches...sometimes end up as migraines.

Maybe she's using the concentrated detergent but putting in non-concentrated amounts.

oooo a plausible scenario. I've always wondered if the 'concentrated' detergents is another way of increasing revenue.

get the "clear and free" type with no smell or junk in it

QFT! When she was little, our daughter developed an allergy to the perfumes and dyes in laundry products. The "Free & Clear" products didn't affect her, so we switched. Now, after using those only for over 20 years, I can't stand the smell of "April Fresh" or other perfumey laundry products...
