They provided stats too.

I have too much upper body turn at the top of my swing.

I got really good at golf when I was a kid. I would take my fathers clubs and run around hitting prairie dogs out of their holes. I wouldn't recommend training this way unless you are a god-like sprinter like I am because the prairie dogs will see you coming. They never saw me, all they saw was the end of my driver. Everyone knows this.

I trained like this too and I though I was the only one! Strange world!

Link fail, need an account there to do anything..

Just copy the link and add the "[login]=854639".

Looks fun. Why are you lifting your front foot though? I thought both feet should stay planted except for the back foot moving during the follow through.

That's a bit of a problem. You should kind of roll your foot. I had one practice swing, so I may have done some things I don't ordinarily do, like lifting my foot and bending my right leg.

Not bad at all IMO, club getting to parallel, good inside-out plane, tempo looks fucked as hell but that's to be expected after not playing at all..

Ahh ok. I don't know the precise terms or preferred swing methods as I only played casually back in early high school. The pros just make it look so good. Even a bad swing can still look pretty good.

My take away looks weird to me and I think I'm opening up my shoulders up too much on my backswing. Too much lower body movement also. I think I need to tighen things up.

Of course, I'm a hacker, so what do I know. I learned how to play from a book by Tommy Armour 40 yrs ago.

Couple of thughts:

1. Your stance is open at setup. I.e., your front foot is turned a good bit outward. That might not be an issue for you, but whenever I setup like that the ball is guaranteed to go right.

2. You are "casting" a little bit. I.e., it looks like your allowing the club head to drop below your hands at the top of your swing. This may or may not be an issue for you, but my ball striking goes to crap when I do that.

3. Tempo needs some work.

4. Front foot/heel should not come off the ground. That is probably happening because of the casting issue mentioned above. Keep your feet and head as steady as possible. Your feet/legs are the foundation of the swing. The more they move, the more inconsistent you will be. Same goes for your back foot. You have a weird little hitch in your back leg right before you start the downswing.

5. Do you have an issue with your ball going right? Not a slice, but a block? Hard to tell from the video, but it seems like your swing plane is a little steep, and that you are coming outside in on the downswing. I used to do the same thing on my drives (still do occassionally) and it was a real problem. Hitting a 300 yard drive is great, but not when the ball launches straiught as an arrow but 30 degrees to the right of where you are aiming.

But all in all, not bad. Your definitely not charles barkley.

I don;t think your shoulders are opening too much, but you have an extended takeaway. Meaning that your hands are leading (above the club head on the backswing). Your hands, arms, and the club should all move as one piece. See http://www.wefixgolfers.com/proper-golf-backswing-and-take-away/

check out the compare swing on the right hand side, look at barkely's swing that's what you want to emulate

Your takeaway is a bit quick and you're bringing the club, and your arms, too much to the inside. That results in you making an over-the-top move on the downswing and the club gets too steep. If anything you want to take the club away more outside and then drop it inside on the downswing. Ideally you want the club plane to remain identical on the takeaway and downswing but that demands a lot of practice.

You're right about your lower body too. Your legs need to be quiter. It will help to develop more torque with your upper body and provide a stable platform for your swing. Watch the position of your right knee in the video. It's moving almost a foot closer to the ball on your downswing. That move is going to cause pull-hooks and shanks on the course. If you keep the right knee a bit more solid and move it more towards the target rather than the ball you'll make more consistant contact.

Overall though it's not bad for an admitted hacker who hasn't swung a club much this year.

Thanks for the feedback. At least I have a better idea of what I need to work on. My biggest problem is that I tend to block the ball out to the right.

I always felt I had some potential for the game (self delusion, I guess) and that if took some lessons and practice, I could be decent.
