I noticed we've had long streaks of dead/yellow grass in our backyard. We've been busy and didn't really do anything about it.

Lately our cable internet has been really slow, almost 50% of the advertised speeds. Comcast came over to check our signal and he said it was very weak, so he dropped a new line for us in our backyard. He also noticed the long dead/yellow grass. He was pretty sure the moles in our backyard have been chewing our main cable, which resulted in a weak signal. :|

So it's time to set up some mole traps. Has anyone done this before? Any tips?

Dig a holes in the direct path of the mole trails and make them about 6 inchs deep and place a plastic bottle or cup to line the hole and fill with water. Make sure it is flush with the ground.
If its moles, they run so quick they cannot react fast enough to steer clear and ultimately drown.

I can tell you what not to do... Don't pump gas into the hole and light it. Some Janitors did that a while back when I was in school and ended up blowing up the field and getting burnt pretty badly.

fill their holes with water and wait outside with a pellet gun and blast them away at point blank range.

My dad used to use this little firecracker type things. You light them, drop them in the hole, and the hole fills up with smoke, which I'm assuming is poisionous.
