It's really not that bad. I typically hate going to the dentists and having anything done to my teeth.

I had a root canal about 6 months ago and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It didn't hurt at all during the procedure with just novocaine. My gums were a little sore for a day and that was it.

I had a root canal. It wasn't as bad as I thought. Just make sure the dentist shoots you up with enough novicane.

Not that bad..just the time in the chair. Once they shoot ya up and go to work it's nearly pain free. I just hate having my mouth open that long.

I didn't feel a thing. I had a bad one too...required 3 seperate appointments to complete the procedure, THEN a 4th for the crown! The toothache before you get it (if you have one...I did and it was excruciating at times) is much worse than the root canal which is just pressure, not pain.

root canals have gotten a bad rap
they are more time consuming than painful

Just had one last week. Three canals, one tooth.

Kami's right; the pain you're in before is worse. That is, unless you don't have dental insurance. Then the pain from the hole in your wallet might be troublesome. Mine ran $1,000.00 pre Insurance and that's just the root canal (Crown Prep and Crown come after that).

For me, it was worth every penny of my co-pay however as I didn't experience the slightest pain before, during or after (albiet just a little sore from the novocain shots).
