i replaced a SB Live card with an Audigy 2, but I forgot to uninstall the Live before putting in the Audigy. When XP booted, it crashed. I went into safe mode, uninstalled the Live, rebooted. Now I cant install the Audigy because the installer says it can't detect the card, and the Add Hardware in XP says that the registry entry is damaged.

Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Anyone have a clue as to what I should do?

Im on XP PRO SP2, and I have system restore turned off so thats not an option

Hi,

Try this first.
Download Driver Cleaner - install.
Take the card out of the machine.
Reboot into SAFE.
Run driver cleaner.
Put card back into machine.

Good luck

thanks for the tip

i ended up deleting it from device manager, rebooting and it installed after that from the cd
