Ugh, I smudged some water on my laptop now keys don't work?

Cheap ass $300 netbook.. it was actually great, but im pissed off at the shoddy work. I just fucking smudged few drops of water from touching the keys while donig dishes (watching video passes time easily)

Now arrow keys don't work and backspace don't work. Those two are a HUGE deal and almost renders the whole thing useless. I just spent 5 minutes typing this too.

Anyway to fix it or is it just screwed now? (too expensive to fix?)

It's well under wararanty. Should I just give em a call

Try taking it apart. Clean the keyboard with water and rinse it with distilled water. Let it dry for a few days before you put it back together. It'll probably start working again.

It doesn't make sense that only a few keys would stop working from electrical damage. Its more likely that the contacts under the keys are having trouble connecting.

The longer you wait, the more likely the area affected will bubble out or rust and cause permanent damage.

What netbook model? Most netbooks I've worked on come apart in less than 5 minutes.

well yea but its nice to know they actually made some sensible design decisions so you'd have a little extra leeway...

I spilled some wine on my keyboard a few months ago and picked up a replacement online for about $20. In my case only about 6 keys weren't working.

I'd look into doing that.

And Lenovo is still using the pour through keyboards. I love my Thinkpad.

90% of the time, the issue will be resolved if you replace the keyboard.

the other 10% of the time, the water damage is more extensive than just the keyboard.

Any time I've spilled water on a keyboard, I just let it dry for a day and it works fine after that.
