Ouch! AVG could not rid my system of these viruses. Help! 🙁

Hurry and get Norton Antivirus.

Install Zone Alarm Pro

Update to all the latest patches at Windows Update.

what did it say when you tried to remove them? AVG also has a quarantine feature, although I'm not sure how reliable that is. maybe check symantec's web site to see if they have cleaning tools available?

On a side note, anyone using LiveUpdate noticing it's not working? I cna see what updates I need but when I update the filesize goes from 238KB (for example) to some absurd number like 2309847239487KB and downloads - then it won't install itself.

Is there a patch?

Works for me. In fact, mine is on auto. I just did a manual LiveUpdate and it says I have everything.

Alright I installed an old copy of Norton (2002) downloaded the fixes off their website, and then got myself zone alarm 🙂 I'm totally virus free now! 😀

Most definately download and install Zone Alarm. I installed it yesterday and it's already blocked like 5000 attempts to port scan or access my computer.

Yea good call, thing is when Im playing online games I often times close Virus and firewall programs for faster play ... although this might be a bad idea, considering all the hacks and viruses out these days!

DO NOT install any ver. 3 of Zone Alarm!. The current version has different bad results on different systems, including resource hogging and interference with other programs, and it is a BITCH to uninstall, requiring extensive manual registry edits and a good registry cleanup utility to get rid of the missing vxd and dll errors. It has a 29% thumbs down on CNET's download.com. :disgust:

The last good version is 2.6.362. minendo was nice enough to host it, here. It works great, it doesn't get in the way, and they hadn't gotten around to all the cutesy visual tricks that also lost some of the better functions. 🙂

My ISP is Earthlink, but Verizon is my telco and provides the actual connection. Right now, I'm having some issues with them because I'm getting an average of 4 pings per second from a range of Verizon IP addresses in addition to the expected MSBlaster and Slammer hits (about 2% of the total). Zone Alarm 2.6.362 is stopping all of them, and unlike what I recall of the newer ZA, it reports the IP address of each hit in the current alert screen, rather than having to dig through the logfile. 🙂
