4 drives on the backup server just crapped out, I'm gonna be stuck here waiting for the replacements, at least I'm hourly... my boss told me I could get dinner on the company' tab so I foresee champagne, caviar and fine steaks in my very near future :awe:

netflix don't fail me now!
 
looks like I'll be putting a midnight snack on the tab too, just went out in the server room and noticed all 4 harddrives were on the same backplane, $50 says the drives are fine but the backplane is busted and I'll be stuck here until after midnight...

I was thinking about swinging by a resturant/club called Carstenskiold, I haven't eaten there yet but I know a guy who's a promoter/manager type thingy for them, I've heard it should be really good. (this is in Denmark btw)
 
I hope its not 4 drive on the same array... one of my 450gb sas just crap out on the san.. good thing for 24/7 hp, drive came in 2 hours

honestly, if four drives crapped out at the same time - my first guess would have been to see if they shared anything. 😉

my boss was the first one to notice, he's in copenhagen so he couldn't physically check i out, he called HP and then me and told me what was going on and I went out to check it out and here we are. HP is sending a technician with the parts (think the backplane had to come from germany or something) and Athea (the company we buy most of our stuff through) is sending their storage architect. I basically just have to sit around on my ass while they do all the work 😀
 
Did that last month, Mail server got hacked and slashed. Had to do a BMR over USB 1.0 since PXE boot BMR failed on our server. Wait wait wait, failed...leave office at 1:30am. Finish it over the weekend (shadowprotect + gigabet network = :awe: )

That was a long couple of days....

And I'm salary, wah. But I got comp time (2 days off 😀)+ free dinners.

Tell your boss to hire more servers!
If the restaurant is that busy, why hire unreliable backup servers?
(When did McDonalds start using "Servers" anyway?
