I need to shore up some cash for rent and random bills over the next few weeks... My gf nannys and the family she was working with exclusively cut her loose on short notice so a "family member" could take over (we are assuming said family member is in dire financial straits, or it was a douche move by the family she had been working for, for months).

Anyway long story short, i'm looking to dump some old MMO accounts and i was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to sell them to for a reasonable rate.

Gametag is worthless.
Playerauctions now wants you to post a current photo ID (identity theft risk?)

It's a Warhammer Online and Eve Online account.

Why are you selling your accounts just cause your GF lost her job? Was she supporting you?

I wouldn't spend too much time on the could have should have part unless your state will allow a lawsuit (which I don't buy into anyway)...

However; it's best to sell off anything of value you definitely don't need right now.

Exactly the current plan.

She's looking for work but it was painfully slow for her to find the current job.

There is no ID theft risk if you black or white out all the numbers.

I thought the risk of being defrauded out of a sold account was extremely high? There's no protection from PayPal for the sale of intangibles. Depending on where you live a local Craigslist cash sale might be your best bet even if it won't yield nearly as much as selling online.

Edit: Pity the good old days of eBaying EverQuest items are long gone...I funded almost all of my recreational activities freshman and sophomore years selling that junk.

Im in the same boat. Wanting some extra cash, have a WoW acct with a couple level 80s (druid, pally), 70's(hunter, rogue), etc, but didnt know where to sell. Guess I'll try local craigslist and see what they are going for.

I haven't used any so no idea which ones work well. I guess you can look at the listings they have or list on multiple ones.

ebay or craiglist I guess?
you won't get much money, but who knows.
Don't go out at bars or restaurants and reduce the quality of food (like in wartime) for a few weeks, stay in the dark if you don't really need the light (like if you're reading, for eating a low consumption lamp will be enough). Eat meat only once a week. Try to use the least water possible. Don't buy anything urgent.
If it's not enough, try to sell your butt.

TBH mmo accounts don't really sell for much

not anymore. in EQ i sold my warrior and shaman (max lvl high lvel gear) for $1200. i sold my EQ2 toon (max lvl epic raiding gear) for $800

i have seen peopel trying to sale wow accounts but they are not getting much at all. even lvl 80's with raiding gear. since well its easy to get now.

only thing that sales is gold. even then its fucking cheap.

sells. SELLS. I hate how people online can't determine the difference between sale and sell. Drives me nuts.

All good points. MMO accounts used to sell for a lot, but nowadays, I doubt you can get anywhere near $1200 like Waggy has. Even gold itself isn't worth a lot. Hell I see gold spammers in wow asking $3-4 for 1,000 gold. That's insanely cheap.

Also Waggy, do you not know the difference between "sale" and "sell" lol :D

Yeah, $500-$800 is a long way from $0 guys.

I was hoping you guys had some experience at this but i'll hit up elsewhere i guess.

Most of those google results are all sister sites of the same horrible company.

Gametag.com has had my EVE account in escrow for 11 days now which is guess is "up to 72 hours". Their "Live Support" is just an email address that they don't reply to.

I've had experience with WoW accounts but not games like Eve or EQ2.
