ugh fast food

Yeah, so I'm not generally into fast food, and try to keep myself healthy/in shape/blah blah. I was lazy today and didn't feel like going out/cooking, so I went to Wendy's (ugh). Being a cheapass, I ordered:

-small fries (440 calories)
-crispy chicken sandwich (380 calories)
-5 piece nuggets (230 calories)
-bbq sauce (45 calories)

courtesy of: http://wendys.com/food/pdf/us/nutrition.pdf

TOTAL: 1095 calories.

Now I remember why I stopped eating this crap.

1095 calories is nothing assuming your an average male who eats three times a day.

How tall are you? How old are you? What is your weight?

If you ate the same meal at home you would have found a similar calorie count. Nothing wrong with fast food in moderation.

I dont mind the calorie count in fast food.. its mostly the ridiculous amounts of sodium and saturated fat the food contains. I eat over 4000 calories a day, but I try to eat healthy.

5'8" and 155lbs.

I'm not sure if I would've had a 1100 calorie meal (maybe 500 or so), but yeah I definitely agree everything has to be had in moderation..

I agree with the comment as far as sodium goes. Not for saturated fat, though-- look at the Wendy's nutritional info chart the OP linked to. The saturated fat in that list is damn low for the majority of selections.

I think the largest beef with fast food is that people still snack after they eat it. That's where you end up going over the required caloric and carb daily intakes, and then people end up blaming the fast food for it.

Agreed. Everything in moderation is my policy.

How many meals do you aim to eat daily?

Let's see. I had sausage egg McMuffin (450) with hashbrown (140) and coffee (40) for breakfast. For lunch had the quarter pounder with cheese (510), fries (380), and coke (210) with side salad (20) and ranch dressing (170). That's only 1920 calories. No wonder I'm losing weight eating McDonalds.

I worked at McDonald's during high school. Typically worked 3-4 times a week and often with the same staff. Many employees ate there once, even twice a day. Most staff I worked with were thin 😉 Fast food doesn't make people fat. Poor eating habits, snacking and all that is where it comes from.

A calorie is a calorie.

No dinner?

Hahah, it's not the calories, it's the saturated fat, processed white breads, hormones, animal fat, and other crap like fries and mayonnaise that make fast food unhealthy. Calories = necessary for survival.

So you ordered the absolutely worst things on their menu you could have ordered. It's not so much how many calories it all was, since you probably wont eat as much later. It's all the saturated fats that matter here.

Every damn thing you ordered is deep fried. Every damn thing.

And you claim to be trying to eat healthy??? You could have done a LOT better at any fast food resturant, including Wendy's. Hell, a burger would have been better for you.

pffft, i ate a ruby tuesday's triple play in 1 sitting.. that's like, 1500 calories 😀😀

's his insane metabolism

Well I had pan seared ribeye steak (probably about pound and a half), baked potato, rice, salad, and coke. Don't have the nutrition value on this but it's probably about equal to breakfast and lunch. 😉

I still need more calories.

Don't eat Jack in the Box's Double Cheesburger or whatever, I had it and it was so greasy I wanted to throw up...I didn't have any ketchup on it (take out) and it was gross.

If you take the fries out of that, it's not that bad at all.

Yep, skip the potatos and any meal becomes healthier. I like Wendy's combos where you can get salad instead of fries and they will serve the sandwichs w/o buns upon request.

My caloric intake so far is 1500 calories and this includes two beers. I also jogged three miles.

I completely agree... I'd rather eat something that has 2000 calories than a fast food meal with 1000 calories but loads of saturated fat.
