For technical writing class, I need an owner's manual that is bad, but not TOO bad, so I can write a memo as to what is bad/good and how to make it better.

I have been trying looking at foreign brand names hoping for Engrish mistakes, but can't find any good ones.

If anybody can find any good examples that would be great, or any products YOU have had that maybe the manual left something out or was shady on some aspect.

/me goes back to google.

I'll second that! Try downloading anything from Gigabyte

Of course, most of what makes them "bad" is the poor translation into English (at least I hope that's waht it is!)

The manual for my Epox motherboard has a some mistakes, but not too many. It would be pretty easy to write a memo for it.

Thanks guys, I'm havin a friend get me a couple because I don't have any handy, the bad part is that we have to attach the actual manual to the report.

I'll check them out online to get some ideas.

Just say the manual came on CD in PDF format. a lot of manufacturers are doing that now anyways. especially with networking equipment. they give you a 4 page 'quick start guide' and give you a manual on CD. Note that this applies to everything from linksys switches to enterprise firewalls. Seriously, my sonicwall pro 200 that I was using at work came with a 5 page 'quick start guide' (on a firewall, wtf?) and a 550 page manual on CD. It's a $1600 firewall, why the fvck can't they spend $5 and bind me a nice reference guide? My Siemens router came with a 100 page manual in the same situation, but that was a $50 router, not a $1600 one.

Yeah I hate the stupid electronic manuals.

I want to have the manual sitting in front of me while I do stuff on the computer, not have to be on a computer to read the manual then switch back.

Too bad I have no idea what happened to the owners manual for my wifes 1980 Honda. That thing would have been perfect for you. Engrish at its finest.
