You get excited about your new system and start telling someone these awesome spec's and they give you this funny look like "you need a woman bad!"? Geez, even me fellow techy friends get lost when I start going deep, like I'll start talking about my Antec SX1040 case and my friend just looks at me and says, "it's a box", and I'm like, "NO, it's not" and start describing it and he says, "how much did it cost?" and i tell him and he gives me an even weirder look, don't you just hate the ignorance of people without a passion?

Agreed! I'm pretty sure that is one of the exact reasons why Mr. Anand Lal Shimpi (is is Lal or Dal shimpi? Sorry if I got it wrong!) started up this website to begin with.

Sometimes at work, a coworker will casually ask me "so what did you do this weekend?" Of course, I get all excited and tell them about my new case, and how I set up a RAID array, and I got some new drivers and it's running great and....he'll look at me like "uh, ok..whatever...I cut the grass and went a flea market w/the wife" Unfortunately for us, we live in a world full of E-Machine owning, AOL-using, I'm happy with my 286DX computer-phobiacs. But fortunately for us, we have the AT Forums! Where geeks of all ages, races, nationalities and personalities can revel in the unabashed glory that is tech-speak. Wow...what a bunch of carefully-crafted BS that was! Cool thread.

My wife called me a nerd today. I am so not a nerd but hey I love my computer.

At work I said to 2 females colleges that I just bought a new 1.33 GHZ Athlon machine. They said what is Athlon?? What is AMD.............some CAD designers don't even know that there is a company called AMD that makes CPU's.
Some don't even know what graphic card,how much memory,what version of software etc they are using.

I'd don't think it's fair to say that someone who isn't passionate about computers are ignorant. People just like different things. I'm like the rest of you guys though, my wife thinks I like my computer a little too much.
