I just received my Asus CUSL2/PIII 700E combo and noticed the following markings on the cpu:

L022A437 SL45Y Malaysia

Are week 22 Malay cpu's really that bad? I got this one from googlegear - was really hoping for better luck... :(

Granted, I haven't tried it out yet - we'll find out what she can do tonight...

Well.. I got the same week CPU back home in Malaysia and mine didn't even work. I posted about it sometime back. I called Intel about it and they just said to ship it back to them and they'd replace it. Didn't even ask too many questions. Bad batch.

Well, I have a little hope now. After fighting with my CUSL2 for 7 hours last night and a few more today, I finally got everything up and running at normal speeds. I'm awaiting delivery of an Alpha PAL35t, but just for kicks, I thought I'd bump it up to 133:133:33 and see what happens. I was happy to discover that I was able to get into Win2k and do normal functions at 1.8v. I tried running 3DMark2000, but it crashed to the desktop about half way through. I haven't messed around with the voltage too much since, as I'm going to wait for the Alpha to do that.

Considering my current situation, do you guys think I'll be able to run at 933mHz stable after adding the Alpha?

Mine's a week 22 as well.

933 is no go at default voltage.....after going along at 770 and 805 at default voltage for a month, it's now stable at 933 with 1.80 volts, default cooling.

In my experience it's still pretty much luck of the draw as far as which cB0 stepping PIIIs will O/C...

For instance, I recently built three new PCs... all with CUSL2s and P3/700s. I bought my cB0 stepping processors from CPUs For Less and all three turned out to be week 22 mal.

Of the three P3 700s, two are now running happily at 933. One at 1.7v and one at 1.75v.
The other only made it to 861, and had to run at 1.8v to stay stable.

Oh- I use Alpha PEP66s w/Arctic Silver to cool all my CPUs, my sig below not withstanding. ;)

Shag -

I order the same thing for Google Gears - SL45Y - Flip Chip (not sure about the Week, how would I tell) and am also having a bad O/C experiences with it. On my BE6-II with a IWill II Slockey, I'm only able to get up to 958Mhz. Also it's only stable @ 1.95Vc which is a little too high for my liking. It's even hard getting it to POST @ 143FSb - 1001Mhz. I havent gotten to windows at 1001 with a 2.20 Vcore.. but systems was too corrupt to do much. This is also the same system I use with a Slot 1 - PIII 550E at 825Mhz with a 1.75Vc and 853Mhz if I up the voltage to 1.85V. so the only thing to blame is the CPU and SlotKey.

958Mhz might be good for some people but I want my Gig. If my PIII 550E can do a 155FSB, the least this 700 can do is 143FSB. Stupid GoogleGears ad their retail chips. I'm going to see if I can BS to Intel and have them send me another chip.

Using a Gorb.. temperature is a little high but not outrageous 38-45C

What are you cooling your chip with? I also have a week 22 and I can get it to 142 fsb (don't remember the cpu speed at that fsb). I do have to 1.9v into it to get it there. I'm happy running at 933 right now with a gorb at 1.8v. I'm waiting on my alpha peltier combo and then I will try the gig again at 1.85. If that holds that'll be great.

BTW I got mine from googlegear too. Week 22 malay.

Keep playing with it! The CUSL2 is a tweaking board thats for sure and you have to do some work many times. I was so frustrated at one point:

my CUSL2 aventure

Well for the non-linked inclined out there, I had major probs at first. I could not get to 933 at all. Now I am at 973 @ 1.85V with Alpha, and 1022 @ 1.8V with Peltier. So keep it up and d/l the latest OFFICIAL bios from cusl2.com

Good luck

Joe
