A good quality LCD can easily match a CRT. About two years ago, I worked with a 17" NEC that probably cost $1000. This monitor easily matched the quality of a CRT. I would play DVDs on it all the time. Fast motion scenes, especially on The Matrix would play damn nice. For many cheep LCD pannels, manufacturers will allow a certain amount of dead pixels. It's something like 3 bright pixels and 6 dark pixels. I think that's what it was for viewsonic.
Anyway, if you pay $800 for a LCD, THEN you can say you got something better looking and more responsive then a CRT. Otherwise, you're really not anywhere close.
