Ugh...Bit Torrent problems

So my WRT was working OK for torrents. But recently I found a program called Cablenut and I tweaked my internet settings according to recommended settings. Wow. Excellent improvement. I download about 2x as fast now.

However...Bit Torrent got FUBAR'd...the second I open Azeureus my internet becomes so slow websites time out. I know it can happen if you have too many connections through the router, it can get overflowed. So I switched to uTorrent, downloaded only one torrent at a time, and only 20 connections maximum. Same problem...

I've uninstalled all the Cablenut tweaks, reinstalled, no difference whatsoever.

I also upgraded my firmware to the openwrt stuff...same...

What the hell now? Can I not do any torrents while on my computer?

Yeah, you must be using a lot of upload bandwidth. It happens to me too, either limit the bandwidth or just download overnight while sleeping or not away. Azerus also uses a lot of memory.

I'm not sure if OpenWRT has this, but I'm using DD-WRT and I have an option in my Administration page where I can adjust the number of ports I can use. The default max is 512 which isn't enough. I have mine at 4096 and its working much better than it used to.

I have had the same problem, its with the amount of connections bittorrent's/P2P's make , Nuthing to do with how much bandwith its eating up whitch is why capping it dident do anything.

http://utorrent.com/faq.php#Special_not...sers_with_Linksys_WRT54G_GL_GS_routers

Look for the "Special note for users with Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS routers, there are severe problems with them when running any P2P app (read for fix)" part, This will only work with one of the 3rd party firmwares, I use DD-WRT and bacicly just did exsactly what it says.

Now i can be downloading useing up like 700Kb of the 1.5 i actuly get (sopost to be 3mbps) With harly ANY browsing speed loss. Can be downloading at a stedy 600Kb/s all day and forget im eavn downloading. Vary pleased with the result of what the page says. Also just going to 4096 max ports as SleepWalkerX said might be all you need to do thow.

Good call, forgot about the router saving that many entries.
