It's an article by a guy with a lot of experience, showing you how he does things. Very appropriate, imo.
He makes it a point to say that this is just the way he does things in the education area, and you aren't obligated, and the BOT results are only the results he got in a particular test, and not necessarily what you will get.
He's retired. He doesn't have the money to deliberately ruin a barrel, unless someone donates one to him.
He probably would not want to ruin a perfectly good barrel anyway.
Besides, there's no question that corrosive primers can ruin barrels. There's no need to test. There's no argument about it.
There's a need to educate.
I'm not saying it's not a good idea, or not necessary, I'm saying that BOT made their name by testing things, most often by testing popular convention. "Everybody thinks this, so let's see if it's actually true." So if you're saying that it is true because it's simply on the BOT website, well then that's where I take issue. It's just echoing what people are saying here but not proving it.
