Yuck.....we are moving out of our apt. and the wifey stripped the wallpaper border off while I wasn't there. In the process it stripped of half off the drywall paper.:(

So I am in the process of repairing these huge areas. Sanding it afterwards is the worst...the dust gets flipp'in everywhere.

I am almost at the point of saying screw it...the deposit isn't worth this!!!! After discussing it with a new neighbor (contractor), he believes it has happened because the drywall was not prepped properly before the very first coat of paint was applied (long before we moved in).

Agg....it is going to be a long night!:frown:

We used to drink and play darts in on apt I used to live in. We missed the board alot . Before we moved out we filled all the holes with toothpaste and called it good.

Yeah, did that back then also until I realized how easy vinyle spackle (ready to use) is to work with.

Spackle is my friend. I frame my posters, and hang dry-erase boards everywhere.

The trick is to get it smooth enough on the first coat that very little sanding is required, its all in the wrist. :)

Drywall just sucks period. I hate working with the stuff ... make sure you're wearing a mask too, that stuff can screw with your lungs.

I once used spackle to repair a door jam that was distroyed in an altercation. It looked perfect. Of course when the new tenants moved in about a month later it stated coming apart.;)

I hear that, the only problem is I am working in a confined space between the kitchen counter and the cabinets. So I can not use a large trowel.:(

I heavily sanded the first coat with 220 grit and just applied a second coat to fill in the minor imperfections. The second coat went on much easier.
