I don't think anyone on Earth has ever seen aliens. But I do think they're out there. The distances involved are just too great.

why do people always say that? too great for us maybe. we don't have the technology, but that doesn't mean some other race out there doesn't.

now i see your argument. because there is no proof either way, you have faith that there is something out there based on statistics
I'm with you 100%, using statistics to form opinions is a pretty foolish move.

better than just believing unquestionably in some being that logically can't exist....

Maybe it was a false positive but the sarcasm meter twitched a bit when I read tweakmm's post. Of course he may have been commenting on the notorious unreliability of virtually all statistics given that their primary purposes are often related to politics and marketing. 😕

Depends on the statistics, in this case our sample size is too small to draw conclusions from.

Your meter should have more than twitched, but that's beside the point.

Nobody is marketing to aliens.

Statistics can be easily manipulated, but working out the math for one's self in this situation is pretty easy.

To form a definitive opinion, yes. But probabilty would suggest other life forms. Therefor, all things being equal, it is perfectly logical to believe that life most likely exists outside of our own.

the universe is far to large for there NOT to be life on other planets.

You really believe that? That's interesting. Humans have been in existence for far too long not to have any contact with these life forms.

Are you serious? We are nothing more than a blip on the cosmic time line
