Since when was the Drake Equation even accepted science, much less basic science?

i can very well make an assumption based on facts, RESEARCH, statistics, whatever, using SCIENTIFIC methods, eg. making a statement about the POSSIBLE number of algae/plankton etc. in all oceans on that planet.

I can come up with a number ond publish it...and noone would scream "foul". What about the population of the earth, or the population of the usa ? etc..etc.

If i take what we KNOW right now from the universe, eg. sample the facts from our planet-system, take what we know about how life evolves and where it POSSIBLY might not exists.....and i put that into an equation and make an estimate about a number of civilizitations in the universe...so this is UNSCIENTIFIC ????

Edit: for me it is very well common sense and GOOD scientific method when something is observed and based on the current knowledge an assumption is made. Eg. i can make a VERY reasonable statement that life SHOUDL evolve on certain planets on similair laid oout planet-systems...

Otherwise you would be in a big mess EXPLAINING why it (life) evolved here..but not on countless other planet-systems...and i want to SEE that "scientist" who disregards this statement..what would his reasoning be based on ????

() you dont KNOW whether they're alien object :)

() basic law/physics would deduce that the universe is FULL of other species...based on the drake equation.

So....since there is a theoretical possibility an "UFO" *per se* could very well be some type of craft....basic law of physics/science :)

HOWEVER..i really, really doubt most of witness-reports...and its astounding that the first report i was overflying on that site was from some hick in paris,tn :) Also, to be very blunt, a BIG BIG number of people is really, really stupid and/or just not knowledgeable.

They know NOTHING about satellites, planets, aircraft, meteors whatsoever.

I don't think you are getting what he means by basic law of physics.

Basically, there probably is life, just that they can't physically reach or detect us.

We have only been broadcasting radio waves for the past ~80 years max. Even if they had enough power not to degrade, that is only 80 light years they would have reached. Be fore that, there is no way in hell anyone is finding us and 80 light years is NOT far AT ALL. maybe in a few million years from now when we have been putting out juice for a while, but no chance of now or in our lifetime.

I found Fastwalkers a little better because of the better quality of the program.

It was so hard to watch this because some of the footage is so old.
