My old thread disappeared so I'm starting a new one.
UFO- Extrarerrestrials Homepage .

Very nice 125mb download trailer of in-game action of UFO:Extraterrestrials (quite long too but worth watching)link.

Watching the trailer reminded me of the very old classic XCOM -UFO Enemy Unknown(re-titled as X-COM: UFO Defense in North America).

Game has been delayed until Autumn 06 ,due to bugs and AI scripting, lets hope it's released this year sometime.

Thanks for the update.

If I ever win the multi-state Lotto (tough since I never buy tickets) one of my crazy spending ideas is to buy up the rights to X-Com and put out a modern remake with 1600x1200 graphics but the exact same gameplay.

Meanwhile I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone else gets it right, and play some more Jagged Alliance 2 - Urban Chaos mod while I wait :)

I'm hoping this game will support widescreen format, the game seems to resemble the old classic very closely with modern graphics and some new features incorporated into the gameplay.

Their forum feedback seems to be very postive, just the waiting for the final release date is what everybody is hating at the moment.

lol actually I don't think they did! Master of Orion and Master of Magic definitely did though :D

those were the best copy protections - didn't slow down your computer or install nasty spyware/bloatware.! Too bad the Internet killed that quick

I noticed on gogamer.com website that they updated this game's release date to April 16. It still says Feb 28 on the official web site though.

Considering the game has not even gone gold yet and the 28th is around the corner,I believe it would be delayed yet again.

Looks like the original with updated graphics and interface. This is a good thing. Hopefully they've solved some of the annoyances, like trying to find that last friggin alien hiding somewhere on the map.

New screenshot added link.

*Laser technology*
Laser based guns make use of a strong energy ray to destroy a target. A chemical laser capable of sustaining a strong enough ray for a sufficient period of time has been the sole technology used in laser weaponry so far. But now our scientists have come up with an entirely new solution eliminating the main disadvantage the chemical lasers had, a bulky size.

This prevented ground soldiers from being able to use laser weapons easily in combat.\nCAF scientists managed to create a unique red-colored crystal laser, light enough to be powered up by a small portable battery pack. The weapon?s body is composed of several pulse generators linked up together in order to charge the ray gradually. This special process earned this laser the nickname ?HELL? as an abbreviation for High Energy Linked Laser. The efficiency is nearly 5 times higher in comparison to the bulkier previous generation.

Some more News.

Hi Guys

Let me give you some updates so you have the lastest news.

1) Matrix's Digital Download, Game On Demand and the Tri Synergy Retail release will not have Starforce security on it. We use our own serial security only.
2) The game will at this point be available for download around May 5, 2007. This is pretty firm now. We needed a few more days since our Gold Master to us was a few days behind everyone else.
3) The download version of the game will cost $39.99 USD our Game On Demand (Boxed version) will cost $49.99 plus shipping. Our Game On Demand version will ship with a manual as well.

If any one else has any questions please let us know.

Thanks

I miss turn-based games like X-Com and Jagged Allicance. But why this type of games always get really dated graphics?

Mainly because gameplay gets priority over graphics, look at the old XCOM games, the graphics were always dated even for its time however gameplay is what made those games great.
