Middle weight finals: Joe Stevenson vs. Luke Cummo

Heavy weight finals: Rashad Evans vs. Brad Imes

Main Event: Nick Diaz vs. Diego Sanchez (14-0)

I can't wait for this fight, should be a WAR. Nick Diaz is one tough mofo, and has the edge on standup, while Diego Sanchez has the edge on the ground.

Yea I know what you mean. I think last years crop was more talented. Chris Leiben, Forrest Griffon, Stefen Bonner, Nate Quarry, Mike Swick, Diego Sanchez, Josh Coscheck, etc

Anyway, I think Joe Stevenson vs. Luke Cummo will be interesting. The heavyweight fight is blah though. Brad Imes sucks pretty bad.

30 minutes of commercials, 5.5 minutes of fighting. Yay. I've never seen so many commercials in my life. I hope the later fights are longer than the first one.

WOW, what a fight so far - Joe Stevenson & Luke Cummo

Luke is showing some serious heart. Round #3 coming up.

Yea that was a good fight. :)

Brad showed serious heart there, but he was just too slow and sloppy overall. Despite that he still did some good damage on Rashad.

I'm guessing unanimous decision for Rashad: 29-28

I haven't really watched the UFC in awhile (well, the last time I watched Royce Gracie was fighting years ago) but there was some exciting matches tonight.

I really wanted Cummo to win. Hometown boy no less and the ultimate underdog nerd. Ah well, he held his own.

OMG anyone catch that interview at the end with Diaz? He showed no grace in defeat. He said "Sanchez got some help" in the decision.

Oh yea that guy is a total nerd, a likable nerd too. He had a great run. I'm guessing we'll see more of him in the UFC.

Florian v Cope - I was impressed with Florian after his sad match in the last finale. He was looking much better here.

Cummo v Stevenson - My wife and I were pulling for Luke, but I knew Stevenson was going to win. That guy is tough, and he's going have a great career in the UFC. Great fight, Luke did really well in the face of a great fighter.

Evans v Imes - Definitely the least interesting fight tonight. Imes is a big mother, but his technique blows. Evans has OK technique, but he gets sloppy. I was rooting for Evans in this one, if for no other reason than to shove it in Hughes face. Hughes is an ass.

Diaz v Sanchez - Awesome fight, blood everywhere. Those two were going at it like mad, and even though Diaz put up a decent fight, it was obvious the whole time that Sanchez was in control.

Some greating fights tonight, I'm looking forward to the PPV in a couple weeks. :D

Diaz is a punk. Can't even lose gracefully. With his smack talking before the fight, getting his ass handed to him in the fight, and being a dick after the fight, I want to see those two go at it again. And see Sanchez beat the snot out of him again.

Does UFC hold events anywhere besides Las Vegas? I'd love to attend a show.

Yea I can't wait to see Hughes and Franklin in their title matches. Both fights should be VERY GOOD -

170 lbs - Hughes vs. Riggs.

Joe Riggs is a beast. Looking at the guy, you wonder how it's possible that he can lose. But Hughes is the champ and a genetic freak. Gonna be a great fight!

185 lbs. - Franklin vs. Quarry

Nate Quarry is very very good. He is undefeated since coming back from injury. All fights ended in the first round. Franklin (20-1) is the champ and also super skilled. This should be a tremendous battle.

Diaz was talking mad sh#t for the longest time even before the fight. Rumours of each other sending trash talking e-mails, Sanchez isn't a true Mexicain American, insulting family members, Sanchez shouldn't be in the same cage, etc, etc.

I guess you can call this a major upset.

Woooooweeeeeez me. Only basic cable! :(

I would have loved to see the Diaz/Sanchez fight, but just last week I watched a couple fights with both of them & Diaz appeared to get lucky in both fights. Standing toe to toe w/ Lawler took some balls, but I don't know if Diaz really *knocked* Lawler out. It looked like a lucky hook that juuuuust hit the right spot.

Regardless, however, I think that even on Diaz' best day, Sanchez is just too good. He takes you down & you're done! End of story.

Anybody on the horizon who could possibly take Sanchez?? He may be the best grappler I've ever seen. Heaven forbid he get any better. He'll be freakin' unstoppable!

Hmm, maybe the UFC champ Matt Hughes or no1 contender GSP. TUF has brought MMA to the main light, but these guys are still far from guys like Matt Hughes.

Josh Coscheck (sp) may be better than Sanchez at the ground game.

I'd love to see Hughes or Riggs fight Sanchez :)

Koscheck=Human Blanket. He has no real sub skills...yet. It must take these guys forever to get out of their former mold, be it wrestling, muay thai, whatever. You see some of these wrestlers on top pounding a guy and the guy on the bottom gives up his back! And then you scream RNC! RNC! and the wrestler just lets the guy go and you sit there thinking "Sheesh I could have had him choked out by now." Of course, here you are sitting on your ass criticizing a world class athlete, but thats neither here nor there.

Blanket is probably a far better ground controller than Diego, but hopefully they will meet up soon.

Matt Hughes would probably eat up Sanchez. He is the scariest fighter out there. I was shocked when he lost to Cao few years ago. Dude beat him at his own game and choked him out.

Peace

Florian vs Cope -- Cope has crazy standup, but absolutely zero ground game. Florian has very good ground game. Florian made it past Cope's standup, clinched and took him down. It was over from there, may have broken or at least injured his arm

Joe vs Luke -- Luke, the ultimate underdog the entire show is one exciting guy to watch. He'll be back in the UFC guarenteed, when the crown chants your name while you are losing, you can bet Dana White is going to want you back. Joe was just too strong on the ground for Luke. Luke did well off his back though, there just wasn't enough standing for Luke's liking

Imes vs Rashaad -- I personally thought Brad might have won this fight. He pushed the pace the entire time, he controlled the ring, and was far busier overall. Rashaad basically rocked Brad in two different rounds, which was apparently enough to win those 2 rounds and Brad won the other one. Props to both of them for beating a lot of hte "favorite" heavyweights.

Sanchez vs Diaz -- great fight...although fairly predictable after the first 3 minutes. You could tell Diaz couldn't stop Diego's takedowns. Diaz actually worked very well from the bottom. Diego did control the fight though and ultimately got the win. However, I was pretty surprised BJM didn't stop the fight and check Diego's cut. It was right on his eye and bleeding like a stuck pirate.
