I like Pride, they seem to ignore weight classes somewhat more. I saw Sapp fight some tiny Asian dude, like 5'6 tiny. Bob had him against the ropes, dude just dropped to his knees and covered his head like it was an earthquake drill. The ref stops the fight, as Sapp turns around and is walking away, the lil Asian dude jets up and jumps on Sapps back. Sapp proceds to throw him down and beat him some more. He is like Goliath and some of the fighters against him are David's.

here's a question about UFC nobody probably knows the answer too, but I'll ask any ways. In the Abbott fight where he tried and almost threw the dude totally out of the Octogon, what would have happened to the fight? That's gotta be one of the funniest moments I've seen.

Mark "The Hammer" Coleman couldn't EVER beat Tito Ortiz. He'd gas out and Tito would take him. The guy is a damn can these days, isn't Fedor set to whoop him at the Pride PPV?

UFC stinks any more, the old days it was so bad ass. You had
the Gracies - every one of them is incredible
Don Frye - way tougher then Ken, and more entertaining to watch too.
Tank Abbott - his record was pretty crummy, like 6-5 but he was so fun to watch, he would run after people trying to punch them out, and that dude he tried to throw out of the Octogon *classic!*
Coleman - could whip both Shamrock & Ortiz on any day of the week.

Liddell is nice to watch, Ortiz is a good fighter, but such an a-hole it's not funny. After Randy retired last year, I think UFC lost some of it's umph. Maybe Bob Sap will come over from Pride to fight, always like watching Bob throw down.

Bob Sapp would have to move below 300 LB's, the UFC Heavyweight division has a weight limit of 265 LB's, so Bob can't fight in the UFC, no way he can cut to 265 first of all, his frame is built to be 290+.

That's actually not a bad idea about Sapp. He's a beast, but doesn't have the all around game needed in pride. Pride's heavyweights are a lot better than UFC's, so Sapp would fit in better in UFC. I'd be interested in Sapp vs. Arlovski or Sylvia. But Sapp would get killed against Fedor or CroCop. I'd almost feel sorry watching him get dominated in by the top heavyweights of Pride.

Technically the fight would have ended in a No Contest, as a fighter would have been pushed from the cage.

yeah. pride fighting usually happens in japan, although they have an event in vegas coming soon i believe. they usually have a difficult time being sanctioned anywhere else because some of the rules they work with doesn't go over with athletic commissions...

in pride, you can kick/knee a downed opponent, soccer kick someone's head, and stomp someone while they're on the ground.

somewhat different fighting styles, but for the most part, pretty similar. each organization has extremly talented fighters. ufc's welterweight division (which is stacked) is often compared to pride's heavyweight division (which is also stacked).

i prefer the ufc, but like to watch pride occasionally and respect that organization. usually you'll find someone who hates UFC, but loves Pride or vice versa. that's what you call a nuthugger :/

Wasn't UFC like that when it first came out?

UFC had relaxed rules at the start, I don't remember the exact one, it was the one where Pete Williams beat the dude with a round house kick. Any ways, there was one fight where dude elbowed his oponent like 10 times in the back of the head, they didn't even show it on the replay. I think today that would have gotten stopped after the 2nd or 3rd one.

as for the one who said Coleman would loose to Ortiz, today? sure. But in his Prime no effin way. Coleman was a monster.

I can't win this argument, except to say Mark Coleman was never that great and he sucks now, he's old and never worked on his conditioning. Tito would win now and the only reason Mark would have EVER won is that there is a distinct weight difference between Tito and he. The guy who elbowed his opponent in the back of the head ten times is Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge. Once UFC became sanctioned by the NSAC, because the owner Frank Fertitta was once a member, they had to change a lot of rules and start steroid testing.

Don Frye said in an interview a few years back that Ken was very overhyped as a fighter. I tend to agree with him, Ken should have never had the push UFC gave him. Don Frye would have beat Shamrocks ass any day of the week back then. Ortiz busted him up good the first time, the 2nd was a wash, maybe he won but the fight sucked. The 3rd one? I dunno, Ortiz is obviously a better fighter, but I've seen plenty of UFC fights and know it only takes 1 mistake or one perfectly landed punch to change the outcome of a match.

Even if Shamrock wins, most will still consider Ortiz a better brawler.

Ortiz has some of the best Ground and Pound in MMA. It won't last long unfortunately.

I watched the interview with Shamrock and Ortiz on ESPN's "Quite Frankly" with Stephen A Smith last night. Meh, I see Tito giving Ken another pounding. It was nice to see UFC getting some attention from a real sports network. They also had Liddell and Hughes on there. Not suprised to hear that neither one likes Tito, lol.

It will be the last fight, or near the last if it is short I'm sure they will fill other fights after it.

Hoping Ken will put up a good fight and even win. I just don't want a quick fight but I do think Tito is a better fighter now.

only shot Ken has is if Tito ****** up and makes a big mistake.

Up until they coached ultimate fighter (tv show) i hated Ortiz. but damn Ortiz was a better coach and just all around cooler guy.

If Ken can stop the takedown, then the odds of him winning greatly increase. If he can't, then it'll probably be another disappointing fight, barring some kind of miracle arm bar or triangle. :(

Tito was a great coach and Ken sucked. Tito will probably win so my only hope is that in December Chuck beats tito again.
