Sheesh! Dang I wanted to see more of that. I was surprised he was able to stuff Mendes takedowns. I know his takedown defense % is ridiculous, but I thought there would be no way he would consistently stop takedowns from a guy who has wrestled most of his life. Sure it's good to stop takedowns from someone like Kenny Florian, but Mendes is a much better wrestler. So yeah pretty impressive by Aldo!

yeah.. he even picked aldo up in the air, and still couldnt get aldo on both knees.

now i missed the pre fight part about aldo wanting to fight Silva?!

Great performance by Aldo. He did get a huge handful of fence when Mendes was trying to take him down, which seemed to prevent a slam Mendes was about to get.

there is a diffrence between being active wich he was and accomplishing a lot with it
Like I said it seemed like he was gassed which actually was surprising to me. Like he would go for a TD, Vitor would sprawl, and he'd sort of sit on his knees not really pressing forward or getting up. And again he got top position but not much happened.

Some of it I think was due to good defense on Vitor's part but also with AJ didn't seem as explosive usual.

I thought it was a bad decision for Vitor to take this fight at first. He got thrown head first into the mat by Rumble which looked like he outweighed Vitor by 30lbs. I was like uh oh.. Vitor even took a vicious shot while laying on his back. I thought it was over at that point.
I can't remember ever being so impressed by Belfort in a long time.

AJ was just laying on him trying to stall. they were fast but i can understand why he stood them up.

Listen, I hate the "lay and pray" move, but damn, give the guy a little time on the ground to do something. I mean after all, he IS a wrestler. It's almost like he was trying to force the fight in Vitor's favor (stand up).

And BTW, I was rooting for Vitor all the way. But I even went, "damn, that was quick" when he broke them up.

I'm pretty he did that because AJ almost fubar'd that co-main event by coming in 11lbs over the weight limit after moving UP in a weight class AND being non-apologetic about it.

The guys and I watching the fight also thought they were being stood up too early when AJ was on top. I kept thinking, the ref must be in Vitor's corner.

entertaining card, but the fights were pretty mismatched. glad AJ got his walking papers, Paul Harris is a monster and imo the only person Anderson Silva is scared of at the moment. He makes taking legs look like childs play. Any of you guys see his ADCC matches?

There's also one match I really want to see now. Minowaman vs Paul Harris. Two Superhero leg lockers, it would be an amazing battle for ligaments.

Man, what great fights. Definitely surprised at how good so many of the fights were.

I loved that spinning hook kick from Barboza, amazingly good form too.

Every time I watch the UFC I keep hoping for a kick like that to land. Many times I even mention it to the guys. Finally last night I got my wish and it was insane, that's some Chuck Norris shit right there.
