another fight over in less than 30sec.

wow.. he's a BIG middleweight.
next in line to fight silva after Silva defeats the Mouth?

since there's (lots of) time to kill b4 the next fight, i think i'll replay silva winning the middleweight belt 5+ yrs ago.

Impressive performance by Vitor. AJ was really putting the pressure on him early, and Vitor kept his composure to turn things around in decisive fashion. I'm much more sold on Vitor than I was before.

Seemed like AJ gassed 3 minutes in! When he was on top in the first round, he only hit Vitor with a few shots. I guess part of that was Vitor did a good guard but AJ didn't seem that active. Then his further takedown attempts were super weak and like he was gassed already.

He had to stay below 205 lbs ~8-10 hours before the fight. Before the fight, he was 211 lbs. If he really was that dehydrated to make 205 lbs, seems like he would have been much bigger than 211 lbs. Dolce said Vitor was up to 205 lbs a few hours after weighins! Vitor ended up weighing about 206 lbs.

He missed weight at the weighins and agreement was he was under 205 lbs today. He then had about ~8 hours where he went from 204 to 211 lbs. If he really was dehydrated to stay below 205 lbs, I thought he would have went larger than 211 lbs at fight time.

And yes, when he was in top position he wasn't doing much. He landed a couple hits at first and that was it. When Vitor had stuffed the takedown, he just sort of pressed him up. I thought he'd be more active and say switch to a single leg or just abandon it.

aldo wins!

another round 1 finish!

edit:
wtf aldo running into the crowd?!

there is a diffrence between being active wich he was and accomplishing a lot with it

Sheesh! Dang I wanted to see more of that. I was surprised he was able to stuff Mendes takedowns. I know his takedown defense % is ridiculous, but I thought there would be no way he would consistently stop takedowns from a guy who has wrestled most of his life. Sure it's good to stop takedowns from someone like Kenny Florian, but Mendes is a much better wrestler. So yeah pretty impressive by Aldo!
