as long as jonny keeps finishing fights i don't care how long he is the champ, same w/ silva most of their fights are just straight up exciting. GSP on the other hand, he's a winner and an athlete, but he's no fighter.

This. I wouldn't care if Jones retired as the Champ at 35 if he keeps using those spinning elbows and flying knees. His fights, all of them, have been exciting.

Yeah just for me, for some reason I don't really like it when this one guy dominates and no one has a chance. Especially if it's a guy I don't really like, like Silva.

One of my favorite fighters, Frankie Edgar, while an outstanding fighter is in a very tough and close division where he might not be able to hold the belt long.

Good luck, their servers can't handle the traffic right now.

Got sidretracked and haven't attempted checking, but I believe you.

I'm sure there is much gloat taking place. And rightfully so. The Shogun fanboys over there were ridiculous the last few weeks.

It's gloating on one side and excuses on the other. A lot of funny, though.

Holy crap, Rua's a beast yet was annihilated by jones. Jones has the whole mma package...height, reach, quickness, power, standing, ground, creative...just deadly.

Time for Anderson Silva to jump to LHW again.

KO of the night: Brendan Schaub
KO of the night 2: Erik Koch
Fight of the night: Barboza vs. Njokuani

Pretty much what you'd expect I'd say.

honestly who do you put against this guy? it would have to be a nasty wrestler, because I cant see anyone standing with bones.

I dont know why, but id like to see randy vs bones. Kinda like I want to see randy vs machida. If randy can beat machida, he had a chance against bones.

Did Rua tap at the end? I didn't catch that.
Yeah it looks like he did when they showed the final replay.

People are saying he did also, but heh like you know, that doesn't always mean much ("OMG Bones didn't shake his hand!!!!!").

looks like it from the gif's on sherdog. it's hard to tell though. I'm kinda surprised he didn't get fight of the night, or ass kicking of the night.

You know what's unbelievable? Jones doesn't have one friggen scratch on him from this fight. He also just fought 6 weeks ago, in which he didn't get one friggen scratch on him there either. The guy is just that scary good.

Barboza vs. Njokuani was a fucking barnburner. Spinning back kicks, beautiful front-leg roundhouses, front kicks and even a Brazilian kick. And Barbosa's leg kicks are perfect.

Best line from Sherdog tonight:

If I were to go back in time to 2006 and tell myself that Cro Cop would be KOd by an ex-NFL practice squad scrub and Shogun would be KOd by a 23-year old training for 3 years, on the same card, I would have slapped the shit out of me.

Referee stopped. Rua was getting beat up 1st and 2nd round. 3rd round, Jones went for the kill; Rua turtled and Jones was just hammering right fist into his face over and over.

Yeah, I watched the fight, but some folks are saying Rua tapped after he went down. I didn't see it as I was jumping around the house

That is scary. 6 weeks to prepare for his dream match, a title belt, at only 23 years old, yet still beat Rua in every aspect of the match (starting with his intro music :D)

"That's gold, Jerry! GOLD!"

Also, it's going to be weird not having Woosta fanboy-splooging all over his icons in these threads for a year!

I have a feeling he's going to weasel himself out of his bet/declaration. I just can't see Woosta keeping his Pride mouth shut for a whole year.

Be nice now. If he is a man of his word, then he can't jump in here to defend himself.

...although, I'll admit, I had that thought too.

To keep this thread mildly on topic, I had picked Shogun for the fight just because I always find it hard to bet against him, the guy is such a legend and still just 29... but damn, Jones really is a freak athlete, and he has work ethic and skills to go along with it. Not to take away from his previous victories, but this was huge and he made a believer out of me.

Edit: Incredible how freaking tough Shogun is though, he was clearly hurt in round 1 and yet pushed through two more rounds long after mere mortals would have tapped.
