UDP/TCP ports opened for HLDS server. Software firewall constant hits, even after giving HLDS full access. WHY?

Its pretty basic, running a Server2003 system, installed HalfLife Dedicated Server, had to open up a couple of ports on my Linksys router to run the server, my Internet Security 2k4 was set up to give FULL access to HLDS.

But I still get tons of Internet Security pop up windows stating "HIGH RISK" REMOTE SYSTEM and always different IP's. Now if I turn off the ports in my router, the constant hits goes away. So whatever is going through those ports is causing alot of annouyance in my software firewall.

PLEASE I know about giving access to programs so you don't see repeated pop ups for permited tasks. I have ran the full auto scan of the C drive and manually gave HLDS full access.

I want my server to be secure since I use it as my file server for my main systems. What should I do, I would like to use this Norton Internet Security 2004PRO but I can't find a way to make it shut up for all those people trying to ping my server. Even with the server off it still gets alot of hits but most likely because its still in peoples server lists.

Ideas??????

PS I just uninstalled the firewall for now since its terribly annouying to close out 30 ips every hour.

I don't know about your firewall, but it took me a while to find this in Zone Alarm. In ZA its under Firewall->Internet Security Zone->Custom->Internet Zone Tab then 'Allow incoming ping'. There's a whole list of common things like ping and you can set UDP ports to allow here. If your not too stuck on using Norton, maybe dl the free ZA and use that.

I tried that last night. ZA states its not compatible with Server2003 when I tried to install it. :) Hey thats good news though, at least its a option thats out there for firewalls, now just find one that works with Server2003.

Right now I am using a free 30day trial of trendmicro product for the server antivirus. Its a nice AV program for only 50$. Anybody know of any good worthy firewalls in that price range? Maybe a free trial as well?
