UDMA66/UDMA33 ????

Ok, I have 2 hdd on my primary IDE. I have a Quantum as my master and a smaller Fujitsu as a slave. Of course both are older drives, UDMA33. I want to replace the Quantum. Can I put a ATA66 hdd
in its place (using the proper ATA66 cable) and still connect my older UDMA33 drive to the new cable??

if you're using your motherboard's ide channel, chances are it doesn't even support ata/66. but even still, i don't think it would hurt performance a great deal, if it all.

You see the posts and they are correct. Both on the same cable will default to 33.Ata 66 on its own cable(blue connector) and older drive on its own cable in ide 2 will work. Also if you are tight for ide slots,a pci card with ide connectors on it will work(promise has them).

My assumption was that as long as I used an ATA66 cable then the ATA66 device would run at ATA66? If I attached a secondary drive to that same cable but that drive was a ATA33 then just that drive would be recognized at ATA33???
