When I installed multimedia center for my ati card, it told me that DMA maybe wasn't enabled for my 2 hdd's and my 2 cd drives, and that I should check, and i did in the device manager properties for my IDE controller, and it seemed like they were. This happened after I just reformatted and lloaded all my stuff back on. Before, this issue didnt come up...

one thing kinda puzzles me tho, the device says "NVIDIA NForce 2 (tm) SPP/IGP ATA Controller," tho i have an A7N8X Del. which is MCP, not SPP. I had a problem before with cd burning, where stuff would burn, but not unless five minutes had passed to start up the leadin (even at 48x or 52x) with my liteon cdrw...i reverted back to XP's ATA controller driver, and the problem was fixed...and i think i had installed multimedia center after that, so i might just need to change my driver again...tho the cd burning issue hasnt come up and im still using nvidia's driver...

any ideas?

The Nvidia controller was listed properly, that is how it shows up in mine if you have the nvidia IDE driver installed. There is a newer IDE driver in the latest Nvidia chipset drivers, so you might want to give those a try if you havent. DMA is either enabled, or it isn't. The properties in device manager will tell you for sure. It is possible that one of your cdroms isnt capable of DMA if it is old enough.

The latest Nvidia IDE driver does some wierd things, so it may not be happy with the ATI utility at the moment. You might want to check and see if there is an update for it. If all your devices say DMA (some mode) in device manager, you should have nothing to worry about.

hermm whenever i start multimedia center's tv app, something pops up saying to enable DMA or else video quality will suffer or something...

i guess if any other apps come up saying that then ill revert back to window's ide driver.

are there any random things i can download thatll check the specs of my system and tell me if DMA is enabled?

Device manager tells you if DMA is enabled. You might want to try uninstalling, and reinstalling the ATI application since you changed motherboard drivers.
