ok here it comes,

My computer

Asus A7V333
AMD Athlon Palomino XP 2100+ @ 1733MHz
Performance 512 MB PC 2700 DDRAM
IBM GXP 120 80GB 7200RPM (IDE 100) (Primary IDE Channel)
Creative GeForce 2 Ti 64MB
Liteon DVD 16x 48x (Secondary IDE Channel)
Liteon Brænder 40x 12x 48x (Secondary IDE Channel)
Windows XP Professional (SP1) (VIA 4IN1 Drivers v4.43)

I do not understand why my windows wont go in to dma mode 5 at the boot post it shows UDMA 5 but in windows it shows PIO Mode.

I have tried two different 80 conductor cables.

I have tried to force it in regedit.

I have tried to remove the Primary IDE Channel and the main ide controller.

I have tried to install the miniport drivers but it could start the program.

I have tried 3 or 4 ibm tools that didn't work.

i have asked like 10 forums but they couldn't help me, i hope you guys can.

Daniel

I had an issue in XP where my CDROM was always detected for PIO mode even though it supported UDMA2. It turned out to be a bug in the way XP refreshes the drive mode.

See link. Maybe you have a similar problem.

My $.02.

You probably went and deleted the reg entry that points windows to C:\Windows\INF folder. I don't know if you did this on purpose (a lot of people do so Windows won't auto install drivers without you pointing to it) or if was an accident. If you didn't do it purpose, I would be concerned with a flaky Windows XP install. I would uninstall the hard drive and reinstall the hard drive. When it asks where the driver is, say you have disk and when it asks where, type C:\Windows\INF. Don't browse for this folder, it's hidden and won't show up. This will install the driver for the harddrive.
