UDMA/66 IDE PCI RAID Card for 20 bucks

I think it's missing a few.. I've heard a rumor about there being a RAID 60 as well.. mmm.. imagine how much a controller like that would cost... a years salary for most.

I think IDE cards don't do RAID 5 because striping more than 1 drive per ide channel doesn't offer any performance increase, and you need 4 or 5 drives for RAID 5.

why spend $15 more for a very similar product? This card is higpoint based, and with the newest drivers provides excellent performance. I guess if you have to have ATA100 (for the small difference it makes) then I guess the maxtor is the way to go, but otherwise...

Purvin >> i have seen them for 10-14bucks.

Zatright? Please mention some names. Compugeeks now has them listed at $12.95. Maybe that's where you saw it.

I heard that Highpoint controllers are terrible. My parents have a Abit BE-6 with high point and it has nothing but problems.

Highpoint works... but it just takes alot of tweaking. I had to play around w/ mine for about a week or so and now it's rock stable!

I have the Abit-KA7 raid.

Cichli, aren't we talking about 2 different things here, though? Isn't the Maxtor just an ATA 100 controller card? This card at Comp geeks is a RAID controller. The Maxtor doesn't do RAID, does it? Or, can it be hacked to RAID?

I heard the HighPoint HPT366 (which is the chip Iwill uses on this card) has problems with IBM 75GXPs... anyone have any experience with this?
