Having learned that win2k has an issue with UDMA 100 mode, defaulting ever to UDMA 66,
I installed the Service Pack 2, supossed to solve the issue.

But now my doubt arises how do I know which UDMA mode is my system using ??

Besides, which other improvement should I notice if any ??

Brief of the system: Win2k (now service pack 2) on a MSI K7T266 PRO, Tbird 1Ghz 266 FSB)

Thanks Gustavo.-

you could try running HDTach & if burst transfers are above 66Mb/s then you're using udma5 transfers!
do make sure that you have DMA enabled for the drive in device manager as well!

you'll not really notice any real world difference between ata66 & ata100 modes, only in benchmarks! :(
