I downloaded and installed this a couple of days ago. (Thanks for the link CyGor!)

When I was reading the setup instructions I found out exactly how much crunching time I was throwing down the toilet every time I rebooted one of my machines!
The United Devices client only saves its work when it finishes analyzing its current ligand. That can be anywhere between about 10 minutes to 5 or 6 hours! When you exit the client or reboot this data is lost and the client will have to start processing the ligand from the beginning again.

I was hoping UD-Monitor would be something like SetiQ so I could serve WU's to my network. Well it isn't, but even if you don't cache WU's you can wait to reboot until your data is saved! You have to run UD-Monitor on each box you are running the client on. I set up a sound alert for when work is saved so I don't lose any work.

Overall it seems to be well written and I have had no problems running it as of yet

That looks like a neat monitoring client. Electron Microscope has me covered right now, but if I play around with UD someday, I'll keep this in mind. 🙂

I also noticed the time I threw away when I rebooted.. Usually my pc has an uptime of ~14 days or so, but I always check to see if he finished it's current ligand..
Now I'm on broadband so I only have a buffer of 2 units, but when I was on dialup (2 months ago🙂) the buffer was 10, very handy!

jliechty, could you please inform me about what you are doing with/for EM?????
I need to find lot's of EM photos for my school.. So maybe you can give me a little head-start about where I can find some nice pics?
This year I started a brand new study called Bio-Informatics. Were are currently researching some cells (just basics really 😉) but we need
to get EM photos of all the cells we've seen through a normal microscope.

I'm very sorry, Cygor, but I should have been more clear that I was talking about a program, Electron Microscope III. I don't know anything about real Electron Microscopes, but they do seem to be very cool. 🙂
 
Isn't that the program that lets you select another project to run if you can't get work for UD.
I thought that was a 😎 feature.
