UD Cancer Research

Hey,

It seems that everyone here is very excited about DF, SETI, SOB etc but its pretty quiet as to the other teams.
No cookies for the UD cancer research? :*(

I've always supported UD, but there just isn't much hype about it. no races. and we are a little far down in the rankings to stand much of a chance to make it to the top 5.

although if anybody doesn't know much about UD, then the one thing you should know is it is the best client I've seen yet for remote systems. It's basically set it and forget it.

We're the stealth project.... We try to help out those with questions and promote the team, but there is no huge recruiting push. I've seen too many recruiting threads turn ugly, to want to jump into that mess. Just my thoughts....

Cygor is putting up a team stats website that will be useful in seeing how new members are doing. If you have any questions, just ask!

i run it on one PC (Athlon 850)

i don't like the points system, it is too easy to manipulate
there isn't any OS support , its MS Windows only
you can't install it as a service (that i know of, somebody might have come up with something recently that i haven't heard about)

the Anandtech team is actually fairly large/active, over 100 people are active which is much larger than DF or SoB (my two main projects)

I totally missed out on this topic :Q 😉

Overkiller, I saw you are also active in the UD program 🙂
I am running a stats page for the Team which is here. Unfortunatly the stats are still from friday, tomorrow the new stats will be done..
Stats from last week (totals) are here
Note: these are not the final pages.. waiting for webspace... 🙁

We need to get more members to get active again. In the past 3 days 150 members were active.. That's a really low number looking at a total of 750+ members on the team..
Does anyone has any ideas to what we can do about that?

I supported UD through their cancer research. Now it seems you can't choose which project to work on - when I re-installed it the other day it started on some smallpox vaccine. I couldn't see anywhere to choose which project to work on. With it now being "grid.org" I just gave up & went for a project where I know & agree with what is being done with my spare cycles.

edit your device profile on the webpage and you can have different clients working on whatever you choose.

Fingers is very right! You can easily edit your profile to do what ever you want to do..
I only selected the Cancer research project for all my clients and that's the only thing they do!
So you can ofcourse continue with Phase II of the cancer research...

The are the options they are giving you:

Current Grid Computing Projects

United Devices Cancer Research Project, Phase II
PatriotGrid running the Smallpox Research Grid Project

thx for the replies.
my pc has been down as of late b/c of a stupid hardware crash...taken about a few days of troubleshooting but i think i got it!

Good luck on restoring! 🙂

By the way, the stats page has been updated! If you follow the link from my previous post you'll get there 🙂
