The war's over? Can our boys start coming home now?

They are. From CNN:

Heading home: U.S. Central Command has started releasing Air Force planes from duty in the region, Pentagon officials said. A small number or B-2 Spirit stealth bombers flew home to Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri last week and a number of F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighters have returned to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. Full Story | 3D models: B-2 | F-117
? Carriers leaving Gulf: The U.S. Navy's presence in the Persian Gulf also will be scaled back. The USS Kitty Hawk and USS Constellation could leave the Persian Gulf in the next several days, according to U.S. Central command. Officials also said one of the two carriers in the Mediterranean Sea, the USS Harry S. Truman or the USS Theodore Roosevelt, could depart soon.

the main fighting is over. mop up campaigns will continue for the foreseeable future. troops have, in spots, been re-assigned to
quell civilian unrest and implement humanitarian assistance.

an example: abcnews tonight showed u.s. military personnel making a criminal arrest of iraqi citizens who attempted to rob a bank.

now that the bulk of the major fighting has been completed, and iraqi political organizations have begun to meet to draft working
documents for their future governance, then you can expect a gradual scaling back. the u.n. is on the way in as well.

"There's a terrible irony here," said Michael Rodriguez, a professor of family medicine who offered a medical professional's perspective on health implications of the war.

"The U.S. claims military measures are preventative, so (it) deploys weapons of mass destruction that will lead to disease and hunger on a massive scale," he said.

WOW! What an idiot.

I'm sending him an e-mail asking what his evidence is that The US used chemical gas, bio-weapons or nuclear weapons on Iraq.

I worked at UCLA for three years with daily contact with faculty members. About half of them were OK, but the rest were totally devoid of any shade of common sense.

I am disappointed to see that nothing has changed in the past several years.
