today i was walking out from work to dinner around 10pm, when the ASU - UCLA game ended. yes we lost again. but what was worse, was people drove all the way from arizona to see this, and we can barely even fill our student section. that is how much we dont care, and how much our team sucks.

our team has the same problem as many NBA teams. they have no offensive system, their coach barely coaches, they are relying on atheletic ability alone, and they have 15 small forwards.

if you think about it, many NBA teams have like 10 small forwards of different sizes (orlando, and boston as well as minnesota come to mind). oh well, we are screwed, hopefully lavin gets fired and we get a real point guard.

I'm a rabid UCLA fan, I make an effort to watch or listen to every game that they play football and basketball, normally. This year, I haven't watched or listened to a single basketball game because there is nothing about this team that would make me make an effort to root for them, cuz they aren't making an effort to play worthwhile basketball.

I defended Lavin the last 6 years, but his time is up. He's a dead man walking. He'll stay the season which is fine with me because the season is a waste anyway.

as far as the point guard goes, walcott is serviceable. He's not spectacular, but when he plays within himself, he's solid, and doesn't make too many mistakes. Cedric as a point was an experiment that failed miserably. He is a 2 guard obviously, not a 1. Lavin made a huge gaffe in not recruiting another point in the last 2 years.

i guess i'll agree with walcott , he did have 11 assists the other day so yeah. they really need to change their system to take advantage of their strenghts, as in run lots of screens for kapono, double in the post since we have no center, i dunno other fairly fundamental things. oh well .
i also think they shoulda got the craven twins, and just taken both of them. then again no one cares what i think. my boss at asucla who was like a 1994 grad, and been working or going to school here since 87 i believe, this is the first year he has rooted against the football and basketball programs to try and get the coaches fired. i saw him wearing his 1995 ncaa champs hat today and he was telling me how much he liked that had, because it was from a time when we were good. then again he also said that there was less of an offensive system during the obannon edney zidek years than there is now, and that those guys were just SO much better. also true.
