Ubuntu Usb bootable Usb! help

Hi guys i downloaded Ubuntu 12.10 desktop i38

to my win vista desktop then i downloaded iso to usb installer and i put a 4gd pen on the drive and the Ubuntu is only 700Mb and the usb install tell me there is not enough space in the usb stick,kinda wierd

can you suggest a good pen driver installer thanks.

Depends on the host computer. If you're doing it from Windows, use the Windows version. If you're doing it on GNU/Linux, use that version. If you're doing it on GNU/Linux, it should be in the repos, and you can install it from the package manager.

i want to do it on linuxmint 14 mate,

also do you think ubuntu is almost like mint 14 which i l ihave and like very much

why i'm trying other is cause i want to have a similar option in case i have problems with my existing mintmate14 apreciate your input thanks.

Open your package manager(Software Center?), and search for unetbootin. It should be there, and you install from that. The package manager should always be your first stop for software. If you don't find what you want there, you can then look around the web.

You could live boot Mint if you wanted. For core operation, Ubuntu will be close enough. You can also do a real install to a USB drive if it's big enough. Something to consider...

Thanks Ixskllr ; ok did get to package manager and loaded unetbootin and downloaded Unbuntu 10.12 from the Ubuntu home page downloads to my downloads desktop in the Linux Mint mate and did to the USB stick but it wont boot from it,

now how i go about it putting it on the usb stick using the UNETBOOTIN apllication?

Open unetbootin, then click the radio button for Diskimage, and point it to your iso. Make sure the usb drive at the bottom is the correct one, and click OK. It'll write to the drive, and after about a minute it'll finish. Click reboot to use it right away, or click exit to do other things.

Thanks; i click on the unetbootin and it says

deatails. Failed to execute child process*/home/frankdesktop/unetbootin-linux-583(no such file or directory)

what am i doing wrong maybe you should lead me from scrach i would apreciate sory for my low aknowledge.

That was just shown as an example, and especially if you wanted to use it on Windows. To get it for Mint, use the package manager, and install it from there. It looks like the package manager is called Software Manager on Mint.

i also went to package manager and intalled it how do i bring it to the desktop or open it, apreciate your pacence with me.thanks.

I'm not sure where it would be in Mate. Poke around in your Applications menu. It might be under System Tools, or possibly accessories.

Alternately, you can open a terminal and type gksu unetbootin to start it from there. That command(gksu) starts a graphical program with root privileges. You'll have to type your password.

now i need how to format the USB stick it's what it asks

unfortunatlly i don't see any button on the usb disk that i can format it,sometime i feel so dissapointed on this that i throw the towel and forget about it the more i dig the more i know less sometimes think show without any efforty sorry for my blowing out out of dispair.
 
I don't have the Mate version, but look in the Application menu under accessories, and pick Disks. Highlight your USB drive, and click the gear icon and pick Format Disk.

Thanks bro; i found this about formating i using it to format but is taking too long maybe is the way to do it while it's formating the usb i post this hope this rthe easiest way if not i'll try your suggest or other,
