Currently running 7.04 and am not confident in 7.10 on my laptop. Will the updates that show up include 7.1 or will I be safe?

Thanks

to upgrade to 7.10 you have to hit a separate button at the top of the upgrade panel. its quite specific about it :)

Yep. You'd have to select distribution upgrade, or manually type apt-get dist-upgrade. Though...I imagine 7.10 would be better on your laptop. ;)

Most people I've read about have had issues on HPDV Laptops.. Will wait a little while till more success stories are posted.

Yeah, I have had some big issues with 7.10 on a test install I did. Luckily, I did not upgrade my main Ubuntu installation and I think I'm just going to wait until 8.04 comes out. Keep in mind, they intended to be very aggressive about implementing experimental features into 7.10 but they will be heavily focused on stability and reliability for 8.04 since it will be an LTS release.

If you do try out 7.10, be sure to check Launchpad and submit any bugs you may come across. I had two big bugs on mine setup and they were both already in Launchpad, but you should submit a bug report if you find one that is not in Launchpad.

I upgraded on Saturday. I have not had any problems with anything in main, but have had issues with two packages in universe.

I just got my MythTV working just fine, and read about quite a few issues with MythTV and Gutsy. With the next upgrade not to far away, I'm sticking with Feisty for now. I might install it to another drive just to look at it though, but not trusting my LAMP server with 7.10.

Heck I wouldn't trust any of my servers even with 7.04. I'll stick to the LTS releases on my servers (currently 6.04).
