just got my cd's from ubuntu.

copy of amd 64 and a couple copies of intelx86

on my 32bit processor ran fine.
on my amd64 bit it loads initial splash screen where you hit enter to start live cd and just freezes.

says:
hit enter to start live cd
f1 for advanced options

boot_

pressing enter or f1 does nothing
also tried the intelx86 on it just out of curiosity acts the same.

abit kv8 max 3 amd64 (754 socket) 3200+
ati radeon 9600
centron memory
bios up to date

will keep googling and trying but if you got any thoughts let em fly:)

good call Sam as i peeked into bios to look at settings for keyboard/mouse which were usb by the way...how did you guess....anyway my options were not enable/disable but
handled by OS or bios.

so before I changed anything shut it off and replaced with ps2 in both, started right up.
ok so changed to bios to see if win xp had a problem with that since OS was the default.
xp accepted it like a man.
booted into live cd again and it was happy this time.

have not had much time to look at it yet but I noticed it can play a cd right out of the box unlike fedora..and internet connection was a snap so may like it alot will have to pick up a small hd to set it up on ..I like that better then sharing a drive with xp.
thx for the input i was gonna try swapping out the video card first since I hear bad things about ati and linux all the time.
Dan

edit: ps Macs need thier own cd is that right?

Ya.. If you have a Apple that is PowerPC proccessor (any relatively recent computer) you need to get a distro or boot cd that is compiled to use it.

Generally you can't run x86 software directly on PPC and visa versa. But most open source software is designed to be portable and thus is easily made to run on both platforms, you just have to find something specificly designed to run on a powerpc computer.

I am pretty sure that Ubuntu has PPC versions, but I don't know if it has a 'Live' bootable cd for it.
