I was at the bookstore last week about Ubuntu and I find it very interesting also I remember reading from this forum about Ubuntu can be install on old system/laptop.
I wanted to download Ubuntu and install it from the hard drive because the cd drive just died for unknown reason. Is it possible to install it from the hard drive? If so how?

Scroll down a bit and you have some different methods for installing without a CD, depending on your current setup.
Personally I'd just shell out $10 for a cheapo drive though 🙂
