ubuntu for laptop

hello all,

My sister-in-law is bringing her laptop over for me to fix. Of coarse she no longer has any of her support discs. Im a noob to Ubuntu but have installed it on occasion to play with. If I set it up for her, would it be ok. she is computer illiterate and has no money for new OS. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Oh, she basically uses it for web. Nothing fancy.

The type of laptop would be helpful in determining how much of the hardware will work out of the box.

But other than that, as long as everything she does works in FF she'll probably be fine.
