My update manager still isn't showing any updates either.

I used the us, ca and de mirrors to get my single update. Have you been running the beta?

Yes, but I checked the Ubuntu Forums and it seems that no changes have been made to the code since about the 15th, so there shouldn't be any more updates today than normal.

Yeah, it's just the release candidate, essentially.

So if we have been updating Feisty regularly, does that me we basically have the released version and not the beta? (Meaning, will we still be getting the regular updates when they come). Just as long as I don't need to do any more CD burning, Ill be happy 🙂

That definitely seems to be the case.

I decided to be a little smart about it and updated my three systems over the past few days. Speeds were nice and now I'm sitting on a full release version everyone else watches their .isos trickle in a dialup speeds 😀

If you've been updating the Beta, you've probably been running what everyones downloading now for about 3-4 days.

🙂 Yay for the cutting edge desire in me 😀

So will you be updating to Gibbon in a couple days?

When is the inital beta release? I havn't read much about it. What are the new features that it is supporting? If it is just a slightly modified Fiesty then I will wait a couple of months and then burn my cd 🙂

looks like they have w64codecs now. I wonder if we are almost ready to just switch to 64bit linux.

I'm considering switching to 64bit Ubuntu when Gibbon comes out.

I downloaded the 7.04 RC iso last week and it wouldn't even boot up on my new HP C2D laptop. This is the first time I've ever had a problem getting a live CD to load on a system. 🙁

I wonder if it's worth my time and effort to try again with the official release?

Linux doesn't seem to grab headlines like Windows and OSX

Except on digg. Most posts about Ubuntu get to the front page quickly. I'm guilty of digging them.

Thats because Digg articles are picked by the readers, so only what people care about make it on those lists.
