I was using Ubuntu 16.4 and Mint 18 and I'm getting screen tearing when using Chromium and Firefox. It's noticeable when watching youtube videos, scrolling text, and dragging windows. I think vsync by default is disabled and I can't find a way to enable vsync as the graphics options are very limited. I ended up installing Windows 10 Home on the NUC which is my work PC. This was run on a Intel NUC i3 Skylake. I'm going to be upgrading to a new CPU and motherboard on my gaming PC next year and I want to see if there is a way to resolve this issue in Ubuntu or Mint so that I can use Windows 10 Home on my gaming PC and use Ubuntu or Mint on my work PC, so I don't have to buy Windows 10 again as the current Windows 10 on my gaming PC was the acquired during the free upgrade promotion last year from Microsoft and so it's tied to that system's hardware, most likely the motherboard, and as a result I won't able to use it in the future after I upgrade to the new motherboard/CPU and I can transfer the Windows 10 Home retail to my future gaming PC and just use Linux on my NUC. I just need to know if I'm stuck with the tearing in the desktop in Ubuntu and Mint or if this tearing issue can be resolved so that I don't have to buy Windows 10 Home again once I transfer Windows 10 Home from my work PC to the future gaming PC and just use Linux on my work PC.
