Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 6 released

I guess this the LTS release, so they want to bug stomp a little more? 8.04 final is supposed to be released in April, I would think they'd have moved to a more solid beta stage by now.

Incidentally, the only system I could test this out on needs to run Vista for another few weeks. One of the online courses I'm taking only works with Windows, such a pain. After the course is over, a linux distro will be installed on it.

Not that it matters but I've seen better product delivered a little bit later by this team then the money switching hands of M$ after years of development.

like Tribe was for 7.10. So, I guess it may not be used in the context of Alpha->Beta->RC->Final?

Except they do actually release a version labeled as Release Candidate a week before the final is due. IIRC, there have been times when the RC was just relabeled as the final if no bugs where found in that week.

But as far as the "Alpha" name, it is not what you typically would think of an "alpha" build. That is (like Schadenfroh said) just the name they are giving to all their Hardy pre-release builds, like "Tribe" was for Gutsy.
