I have had so many problems with this 16.04 so far, i decided to install Mate along side cause Unity was giving me suicidal tendencies. Somethings is better with mate but it is still so close to unusable. Upgrading to 16.04 first of all kicked my second screen to the curb an oldish acer 1680x1050, detected as CRT .. bleh. Coming out of sleep it will mess with what is primary and subsequently foobar wich screen is primary, position and everything, I have to manually set it with nvidia-settings every time. Bootup is taking forever, keyboard and mouse are dead for the first 90 seconds of just looking at the login-screen, then gets detected and so on and so on. Screen tearing is awful (this is apparently a kepler issue, 780gtx).

I remember Ubuntu being better than this. Am I wrong? Has Ubuntu regressed or is it just me?
(I know I can fix all those issues by digging into them, however if I absolutly have to do everything myself i might as well go BSD)

I haven't tried Ubuntu 16.04 directly, but I am currently running Mint 18 which is built off of it. Mint 18 is good enough that I haven't been back into Windows since I installed it, and I have no desire to do so. If you like being part of the Ubuntu family but aren't happy with the main product, perhaps consider giving Mint a shot. Mint 18 is a LTS release as well.

Yep,I love Ubuntu but... any thing Ubuntu 16.04 sucks big time for me. Specially Ubuntu mate 16.04., Both Ubuntu and Ubuntu mate running versions 15.04 and 15.10 were awesome and I had no problems installing and running them. But then came along 16.04 and all I can say is what a mess!! Running from the Live DVD works pretty well for the most part, till you install it and it auto bricks your machine. I dont know how many times I had to keep reinstalling Ubuntu Mate 16.04.Seems like if I actually get through Installation it runs some what and then comes the updates and wammo... bricked again... or installing GPU drivers seems to screw up everything as well. And yes I know how to manually edit Xorg to stop back screen so its not that being the issue. I mean like I would be in the middle of what ever task and it would just black screen on me and after reset no OS?? revert back to 15.10 and all problems gone?? I dont get it so I guess I am stuck with windows 7 and Ubuntu Mate 15.10 for now till 16.10 comes and hope they fix what ever issue it is plaguing this distro.

Running 16.04 right now, installed mate alongside unity .. its a little better but not alot. Screen tearing is eating at me. And then all these changes with systemd .. what the * .. eth0 not good enough anymore? why why why change something like that for *no* good apparent reason?

I might end up giving FreeBSD a chance.
